Voices of the West Online Summer Apprenticeship Program

Spy Hop will be doing their Voices of the West Summer Apprenticeship online this year instead of at the Library. In order to help Tweens and Teen gain access to this wonderful program we will be opening up the Teen Room for digital access to the workshops. There is a limit of 7 spots available for use with safety and social guidelines that will be implemented. Below is a rundown of the apprenticeship and how to sign up for it on the Spy Hop website along with rules for reserving a spot in the Teen Room.

Please note that the Library is just providing a place for Tweens and Teens to complete the apprenticeship. We are affiliated with Spy Hop or have control over the apprenticeship in any way.

Once you are signed up on the Spy Hop website please see a Teen Advisor to register for your spot in the Teen Room.

Library Rules for the apprenticeship:

  1. You must already be registered for the Voices of the West Summer Apprenticeship with Spy Hop.
  2. Please make sure that you are able to commit to the 3 week class requirements. If you do not show up for your computer spot in the first week your spot will be given to the next person on the waiting list.
  3. Please check in with your Teen Advisor the day before the start of the apprenticeship to insure that we have everything you need to start.(If you can't do this in person just call to check in)    
  4. Parents must give consent for you to use Zoom at the Library and must already have an account set up for you if you need one.
  5. All Teen Room Rules must be followed.
  6. Mask will not be required while you’re sitting at a computer but must be used when moving around the Teen Room. (Teen Room has masks if needed)

The Future Belongs to You!

The future of work is online. Now is the time to give yourself a head start and gain media production skills this summer through an online paid apprenticeship with Spy Hop. We are seeking students ages 13-19 in Tooele, Blanding, Vernal and Hurricane/La Verkin to enroll in a 3-week project-based program. Spy Hop’s professional teaching artists will provide instruction and training through hands-on projects using basic gear and free software, all you need is a computer/device, the internet and a willingness to learn!  Students who successfully complete the 3-week program will receive a $200 stipend.

Online Workshop Schedule:

10 am – 11 am Live Zoom Workshop

1 pm – 2 pm Live Zoom Workshop

Thursdays

1 pm – 2 pm Live Zoom Workshop

Additional independent offline work time will be needed each week to complete projects.

Online workshops use the Zoom online platform.
