On July 22nd, a monument honoring the enslaved pioneers of the Vanguard Company will be dedicated at This Is The Place Heritage Park in Salt Lake City. In honor of this dedication and Pioneer Day, Uintah County Library in conjunction with Utah Humanities is hosting a special viewing of the movie "His Name is Green Flake."

Following the viewing, Robert S. Burch, Jr., founder of the Sema Hathidi Foundation, will conduct an in-person discussion panel with the film's writer and director, Mauli Bonner, who will attend via Zoom.

His Name Is Green Flake is inspired by the true story of enslaved pioneer and Latter-day Saint Green Flake. His courageous cross-country journey to prepare the way for the Saints was integral to the “Mormon Migration” and the settlement of Utah.
